A huge number of companies are successfully operating on the global bus construction market. In addition to individual, leading companies in the industry, companies located in certain countries, in particular European and Asian countries, are also of interest. But we should not forget about American-made buses. The U.S. industrial sector is the leading one on the planet. Therefore, we should separately list and consider the passenger transport offered by American companies, its assortment, the history of companies’ development.
Advantages and disadvantages of American cars
The history of the American bus industry is complex and multifaceted, its parts at different times were a large number of companies that merged and became independent, produced machinery under license from third-party companies and developed vehicles independently. A considerable part of large enterprises was created by separate talented persons, their purposefulness and innovative mind allowed them to develop and offer unique solutions. Most of the companies had been family-owned for many years. However, by the end of the 20th century there was a tendency for concerns and holdings to buy manufacturing companies.
Research, search for new technologies, the use of modern, sometimes ahead of its time approach to work has always allowed American enterprises to produce and sell buses, which have a wide list of advantages. Modern models have an attractive appearance, reliability and long service life, which are provided through the use of quality components (in most cases, American-made: Cummins, Allison) and the appropriate level of assembly, high performance, economical use, dynamism, variety of models and modifications. High cost is the main disadvantage. Another significant disadvantage is unpopularity of most American brands (Ford is an exception), as a result there are few or no suppliers.
